How Chinese People REALLY Speak (60 Real-Life Expressions You Need)

In Chinese Slang, Practical Chinese Phrases, Real Life Mandarin Chinese by Angel Huang

If you’ve ever felt confident in textbook Chinese—only to feel completely lost when listening to native speakers—don’t worry. You’re not alone.

One of the biggest challenges for Mandarin learners is spoken Chinese in real life. Native speakers love using slang, internet expressions, and casual phrases that almost never appear in textbooks.

That’s why today I want to share a fun vocabulary challenge based on popular expressions Chinese people use in everyday conversations. These are words you’ll hear from friends, coworkers, online comments, and social media—so learning them will instantly make your Chinese sound more natural.
