Ordering Chinese street food like a local

In Beginner Tutorials by Angel Huang

China is home to a number of street food dishes that may not look or smell particularly appealing, but actually taste great (well, according to some…). Perhaps one of the best examples of this is stinky tofu. Hated and loved for its unmistakable odour, this snack is sold pretty much all over China.

While, regrettably, we weren’t able to capture the smell for you with our camera, this video will show you what deep fried stinky tofu looks like and — in case you want to try it — how to use casual Mandarin to order a portion for yourself, and one for your friend (or worst enemy). Enjoy.
